“ Popie Redd's is phenomenal for local eats. Definitely a hidden gem within the region. I ordered beef ribs and they were smoked to perfection. I thoroughly enjoyed the potato salad and mac n' cheese. The owner was so kind, down to earth and welcoming. Such a comforting atmosphere. I will 100% be a regular! ”
“ 13 for a half chicken, 2 sides (sweet and spicy beans & candied yams)& a drink. This is top 3 chicken barbecue I've ever had. It fell off the bones and I was halfway through before I remembered the sauce, but it's so well seasoned you don't need it. Next time I'm trying the pork slab with greens. Yum! ”
“ Excellent flavors! Eaten from here couple times but the food is so good that it doesn’t last until a picture can be taken. Finally able to this time. Ordered Half pork ribs— fall off the bone tender, with a beautiful rub. Sauces were House spicy & Bourbon ((lightly sweet))— both went great with the ribs. Sides were: corn bread, collards & potatoe salad— I do not believe these need any explanation, if you’ve tried these you’d know! Still.... Oh so wonderful!! Last time we had the Candied Yams which were so good! A bit extra sweet if you like it that way. I’m so surprised this place not once popped up in our BBQ searches until we moved to forest hills. But maaannnnn you have got to go here! Family owned, cooked from scratch. Worth every buck & more. The love is real. I have to go back & tell them a thank you. ”
“ Very delicious food with friendly service. I had smoked half chicken, Mac and cheese, and baked beans. Highly recommend. ”
“ Actually this was delivery order to work. I wanted to try the ribs and the yams. Nooo, I didn’t get the yams, but look how much meat I received. This was one pork slab rib order. The ribs were seasoned and the sauce was delicious. So you could eat them without sauce if you just like a dry rub. I asked for sauce on the side. Everyone at work enjoyed them. Check them out. This is above and beyond what you would receive at a chain restaurant. The styrofoam container was held closed with a rubber band. I enjoyed their ribs. ”
“ Finally tried this BBQ and glad I did. Pulled pork sandwich was awesome, and the half chicken platter was as well. The chicken looked charred but was fall off the bone tender. The spicy baked beans were indescribably delicious. ”
“ On June 19th, 2024 Popie Redd's got a big blessing from the community and a special hand from Braddock Abby. I want to thank all those people. The first 150 people you here got a free meal and many of us who really needed it but it was a big thank you from me to all the people who donated. This was very a touching moment for Popie Abby was a big help reaching out and helping this business get back on track and give it a helping hand. I really hope this does help the black community and a black business to survive and stay in business. This man yesterday made 150 chickens out back of his shop on a big smoker grill in all this heat of being as high as 93 to 95 cooking brought us people to show it up to support him I am so gratitude to this man for trying his hardest to stay in business. After having a big water main break in the ceiling that he had to pay for that nearly wiped him out of business cuz he had to replace a lot of stuff from the water damage. Thanks for to the part of WTAE channel 4 News covering this and getting the word out there's always depressing news out there. You know from gunshots, to teens being killed in our streets to house burning down to the teenage kids getting hit by our cars and trucks. Even though this is a sad story and hopefully with a great outcome with the community support and from Abby and everybody else participated. I just like to see the best for Popie. Popie, if you happen to read this, the food was really delicious. You outdid yourself buddy I don't feel like thank you isn't enough But I am so grateful. Thank you anyways. Keep your head up. Keep praying. Somebody's listening. I'm a sole believer in that. God bless. Take good care. See you soon Your friend, Jim. Area's people and they like ”
